The Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA) has refuted media reports that it has increased tariffs on some commodities and imports, leading to the hike in prices on the Liberian market.

The Union of Liberian Associations in the Americas (ULAA), the umbrella group of Liberians and their various organizations in the Americas, has expressed its willingness to work with President George Weah and Vice President Jewel Howard-Taylor to accelerate the pace of development in the country.

Vice President Jewel Howard-Taylor has made a donation of One Million-Liberian Dollars (L$1M) to the Liberian National Red Cross Society meant to   benefit the organization’s Women training and Integration Program (WIN) and an additional L$1 Million for transportation of the beneficiaries of the initiative.

A two day European Union Funded forest advocacy and engagement training for non-state actors (NSA) has ended in Monrovia with a call on participants to go and transfer knowledge acquired from the workshop to others working in the forest sector to ensure community benefits from their forests and other natural resources.

The Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA) has expressed concern over increasing acts of under and false declarations by importers, especially through the Freeport of Monrovia, having the propensity to undermine the Liberian government’s Pro Poor Agenda.
